    VoIP Feedback: Skype is king

VoIP Feedback: Far too many to list here; Some names that spring to mind are Jajah and SIPPS (part of Nero). The former is a web-driven telephony system (i.e. you place the call over the web, then your phone rings, then the other person’s rings, and you’re connected). The latter is a true VoIP solution, using SIP (the session initiation protocol). None of the above are compatible with Skype, however, since Skype has its own infrastructure API and are very secretive about it.

Another notable difference is that Skype uses a peer to peer network for its phone calls - so it’s in many ways more robust than SIPPS (which is a point to point, with no Quality of Service). Jajah allegedly dont use the Internet at all once your call is placed, and quality is just fine. That said, there’s a limit to how much “free” they’re willing to give.
