Can you answer intellie undie’s question about VoIP?:

I bought a linksys wireless-g wrt54g router because i want my desktop and laptop to connect to the internet at the same time. my laptop connects via its wireless adapter, while my desktop connects via an ethernet cable. the problem is my desktop has a davolink dv101 voip gateway connected to it and it wouldn’t work with the current setup.

before, i used to have a direct internet connection to the davolink, and from the davolink to my desktop. with the linksys wireless router, i can’t figure out how to make the davolink work together with the desktop.

either i have 2 internet connections for my 2 computers but without the davolink functioning OR i have a nice davolink connection, but the computers would not connect to the internet.

please help. thanks.

VoIP Feedback: In order to connect a computer to the internet you have to install TCP/IP protocol, the problem is that TCP/IP only supports one connection.

For example, if you have a laptop with both wireless and an ethernet card, only one can be on, otherwise you will not connect because TCP/IP won’t know what device to route what information to.

VoIP Feedback: Try connecting the WAN port of the linksys router to the broadband “modem” unit. Then connect the desktop and davolink to two LAN ports on the router.
Use the desktop to set the linksys router to PPPoE mode and turn on DHCP. See the instructions for the IPv4 codes to access the built-in linksys setup program.
Your ISP help line might give you pointers on getting on the Internet with this setup. You might also ask the davolink people if this will work. The laptop should find the WiFi signal from the linksys router and be passed thru like the LAN ports, once your laptop OS (Windows?) is tweaked for Networking Connections.
