Can I make phone calls using just my VOIP gateway to a land line phone?

Can you answer shane’s question about VoIP?:

Hello guys.. please help me on this.. I planning to buy Netcomm NB9 VoIP Gateway Router and I have DSL connection. Can i make a phone call using VOIP technology and the above hardware to a landline phone without subscribing to VOIP service provider??? The end result I want is to make free phone calls using VOIP technology. Is there any ways I can achieve that without subscribing to any VOIP provider at all because they are charging a fee for the use of their gateway.. Hope to hear from you soon thank you

Accessing VoIP gateway with router?

Can you answer joebann68’s question about VoIP?:

I have a Netgear router with a separate VoIP gateway plugged into one of the router ports. Internet and voip work fine.

I’m trying to access the voip control panel via the address 192.168.1.1 when attached to the router and I can’t get the admin screen.

I’ve also tried the IP address of the VoIP gateway, and also no luck.

If I disconnect the router and hook the VoIP gateway directly to the modem then to my computer I can access the admin screen with 192.168.1.1

Any suggestions on how I can access the VoIP admin when attached to the router? I’ve turned off the firewall when trying all of this.
